Denis Kitchen on Harvey Kurtzman

Denis Kitchen joined myself and James Lloyd for a conversation about the work of Harvey Kurtzman. Denis is one of the authors of the incredible book, The Art of Harvey Kurtzman from Abrams Books. Denis was also involved in the recent collection Underground Classics and numerous other projects than I can mention here.

If you want to see more of Kurtzman’s work, be sure and check out Humbug, the recent EC reprint collections from Gemstone of his Two-Fisted Tales work as well as the Mad Archives from DC

this was great, but Definitely you should have a part 2 & 3 to this….and soon!

Like your co host, I discovered so much thru those comics he was putting out in the late 70’s and 80’s.

there was no fantagraphics, no d & q, no archive editions. He put out Crumb, the Spirit!!, Burns etc etc…

    real unsung hero.

HE should write a book already!

That was one of the first that I have allowed to appear online. There are many around the same time, that you will never have to listen to.

  4. Went out and bought the book.

  5. fantastic. i agree, we need part 2 and three. could you post the titles of the tunes again (and other songs Mr. kitchen brought with him???) i will dig into more of your shows. ps — happy to hear you LOVED that iwo jima cover. i just snagged an original of it online after reading ‘the ten cent plague’ — another excellent, one could say essential book.
